2012

Summary

2012 was a bittersweet year for the team. The car was finished by April 1st, earlier than any team before, but struggled with keeping reliability. Throughout the course of the year team milestones were consistently finished on schedule and fewer late nights were required, thanks to an experienced management team and a focus on project planning. Vast improvements in recruitment were also seen thanks to the team’s new training.

A bittersweet year. Throughout the course of the year team milestones were consistently finished on schedule and fewer late nights were required, thanks to an experienced management team and a focus on project planning.

At Michigan competition, the team finished 55th after failing to restart at the driver change. Then, at the Formula North competition, the team overheated two connecting rod bearings due to oil starvation issues.

The problems seen in competition led to a summer of intense rebuilding and testing, which led to a new lubrication system being designed and validated. The car was retired in October after the team’s first annual Alumni and Sponsor Drive Day.
